Housing Society Solar

Clean Energy for Residential Complexes

Shared rooftop solar for housing societies, gated communities, and cooperative apartments — reducing common area electricity costs significantly.

Society Solar

Reduce Your Maintenance Levy with Solar

For a housing society, electricity is typically the second-largest operating expense after security and facility management. Lifts, water pumps, corridor and staircase lighting, security systems, and common amenities collectively consume a significant share of common area electricity — all of which can be offset by rooftop solar.

Treflik Solar has delivered community solar solutions for residential complexes across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune, and Nagpur — including a flagship 320 kW installation at a 48-tower society in Thane that reduced common-area electricity bills by over 55%.

Lower Maintenance Charges

Solar generation directly offsets electricity costs for lifts, pumps, corridor lighting, and security systems — reducing the per-flat maintenance levy.

Resident-Facing App

Every resident can view real-time solar generation, their allocated savings, and monthly reports via our dedicated mobile dashboard.

Per-Building Sub-Metering

Individual sub-metering per building tower ensures transparent, equitable allocation of solar benefits across all buildings in the complex.

Complete Documentation Support

Treflik facilitates all Society Registrar approvals, AGM documentation templates, and MSEDCL net-metering applications on behalf of the managing committee.

FAQs

Housing Society Solar Questions

The managing committee must pass a resolution at a General Body Meeting (AGM or SGM) approving the solar installation. Once the resolution is passed, Treflik handles all downstream approvals: the MSEDCL/DISCOM net-metering application, Society Registrar intimation (if required by the society's bye-laws), and any structural engineer certification for roof load. We provide draft resolution templates and a complete checklist to make the process smooth.

Treflik offers comprehensive O&M packages for housing societies, covering quarterly professional cleaning, annual preventive maintenance, 24/7 remote SCADA monitoring, and fault response. The managing committee has zero technical responsibility — we handle everything. Our residential O&M packages are priced transparently on a per-kW annual basis and can be included in the initial project agreement.

Housing societies are eligible for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana subsidy for common area systems up to 500 kW, subject to individual connection limits and state-specific guidelines. The subsidy amount depends on system size and connection type. Treflik's team is familiar with the subsidy application process and will advise your committee on the applicable benefit and handle the application on your behalf.

For a housing society with multiple buildings, the solar system is connected to the society's common area electricity account under a single net-metering connection. The solar generation offsets the common area bill first. Where permitted by MSEDCL, virtual net metering can be structured to allocate credits across individual building meters. Treflik designs the metering architecture and billing software to ensure transparent and accurate allocation to all buildings.
